I’m Robert, roughly 40, German, with a background in computer science. I love facts and tangible things. That said, I’m open-minded about trying new things and have recently been exploring “spiritual” ways to reduce stress and find balance. I’m very happy that Bo and Majken invited me to join their session.
Before the session: It was a Friday, and I’d had a tough, work-heavy week – the kind where you’ve been doing overtime for weeks. We had the session planned for right after work. That same day, I also had a birthday party to attend with food to prep for the buffet. Work, cooking, appointments, schedules… I was stressed. Honestly, I was one step away from canceling everything and staying home. I didn’t. I got my sh** together and went.
Arriving at Bo’s & Majken’s: I arrived packed with stuff for the rest of my evening. Their place was so cozy and prepared with yoga mats, blankets, and water bottles – very welcoming. Within five minutes, my stress started to fade, replaced by curiosity. Once everyone arrived, Bo and Majken started a "check-in." It’s a small thing, but so important for the reflection later. During the check-in, Bo prepared ceremonial hot chocolate. It’s a unique taste, but it really helps open the mind.
The Session: There were three parts: an introduction to breathing techniques, a guided meditation, and then “the breath session.” There is nothing you need to do to prepare. Bo explains the techniques, we practice together, and that’s it.
After that, we put our eye masks on, laid down, and covered up with blankets. Bo guided us through a meditation. It was my very first time meditating, and I enjoyed it a lot. It took me on a small journey centered on friends, family, and gratitude. In that moment, I noticed how “safe” I felt in the presence of Bo, Majken, and the others. All my stressful thoughts were gone; I was right there, nowhere else.
Then, the main breath session started. There was intense music. We were breathing – heavy, fast, and intense. At some point, I started to vary my rhythm, experimenting with holding my breath. It had amazing effects. I had three highlights:
The brain reset: I felt a “clear” mind, ready to take on any task. As someone who is always thinking and working with my brain, I haven't felt that kind of "readiness" in a very long time.
"Ants under my skin": A physical prickling sensation. It wasn’t just a tingle; it was a warmth coming from inside my body. I was surprised my body could have such a strong reaction just to breathing.
Awake dreaming: I felt like I was dreaming while fully conscious. It was very visual. I only realized how deep I was when I heard Bo’s voice in the distance, even though he was speaking at a normal volume.
Reflection: Afterward, we sat in a circle with healthy snacks. At first, it was quiet, but then it turned into a vivid exchange. I shared my experience, and others confirmed similar feelings. At that moment, there was no stress – just happiness and gratitude. I felt light and ready for the evening ahead.
